Azriel- Brass Bat Necklace with Moonstone

Bats (and Azriel from the ACOTAR book series) charge head first into the darkness with no fear to spread their blessings to the creatures of the light. The warm tones of the brass contrast with the allure of the glowing moonstone. My hope is for this humble bat necklace is that it always helps guide you through life's moments of renewal, celebration, and wonder.

Details:

• The bat is entirely handmade from brass with a sterling silver setting for the moonstone.
  
• The stone is a AAA quality artisan cut moonstone.
• Measures 1 3/8" from the top of the wings to the base of the stone. The bat itself is 1" tall and is 1 3/8" at its widest point. The moonstone measures 3/8" x 1/4".
• Comes on an 17" sterling silver rolo style chain with a 4" extender.
• Extender can be removed or lengthen upon request. Please leave a note at checkout if you would like the extender to be changed.
• Finished to high shine polish on the back. The front has both satin and polished features.

Inspirations behind the necklace:

Over seven years ago I made my first bat designs. I put them on pause for the last six years waiting for the inspiration to come forth to rework these majestic creatures with my new style of animal portraits. Bats are a symbol of death, the underworld, and the shadow self, but also are symbols of rebirth, letting go of fear, and transition. The process of creating these new bats reflected all those themes to me. I finally put away my self doubts and allowed them to flow into life. Much like the life they nourish in the dark while pollinating and spreading seeds, they nourished me while they their forms appeared in the metal.

That energy of rebirth, letting go, and of pollination and nourishment was transferred into every bend, texturing, polishing and movement of the metal so it may bring those lessons to its wearer.

Every piece of this necklace was handmade from brass and sterling silver sheet metal using traditional metalsmithing techniques. It was lovingly textured, formed, and highlighted to bring the bat to life.
